A Descent Into The Maelstrom

'A Descent into the Maelström' is a 1 minute film that takes its title from an 1841 short story by Edgar Allen Poe in which a man recounts how he survived a shipwreck and a whirlpool off the coast of Norway.

A personal conversation and a moment of revelation against the heightened backdrop of a majestic Norwegian landscape; but the characters are suspended between this and the sudden dread of a moment of approaching violence about to erupt from below.

DOP: John Griffin

Sound: John Griffin and Anne-Marie Creamer

Featuring Mari Saltkjel and Anne-Marie Creamer

Made on the island of Maloy, western Norway.
